The Medal race kept their promesses this Saturday on the sialing area of la Rochelle, final act of the Semaine Olympique Française. After 4 days of regattas and sélection, there where about 60 boats on the water, racing for the podium today. These gran finales, putting together the top 10 of each 8 series of the EuroSaf, gaved a great show to the public who specially gathered on the seawall of La Rochelle for this occasion.
Fifth and last day of Regatta for the competitors of the Semaine Olympique Française. Today is going to be rythmed by the beat of the Medal Races, starting from 10 :30 a.m. this saturday morning.
For this forth and ultimate day before the Medal Races, the olympic classes enjoyed a quite nice October sunshine and a moderated wind, fluctuating between 10 and 15 knots. A calm aspect for a day filled with the tension in prospect of tomorrow’s Races, whose name does means – litterally - racing for the medals. Where the ten best race against each other and where every point counts double.
Friday, forth day of competition for the Semaine Olympique Francaise on the water here in La Rochelle. Great performances are expected today in the 8 Olympic series engaged within tomorrow’s Medal Races.
This Thursday, third day of regattas at the Semaine Olympique Francaise at La Rochelle marked a change on the sailing area, waking up with a small breeze and under a shining sun. The first races kicked off at 11 a.m. with a small breeze fluctuating around 5 knots, which complete drop off in the middle of the day. Fortunately, the wind rose again in the middle of the afternoon, and all of the series were rushed back at sea, to chase out the best spot on the ranking, keeping in view the Medal Races on Saturday, reuniting the top 10, open to all 8 olympic series.
This Thursday marks the third day of competition here at La Rochelle for the Semaine Olympique Française. The port des Minimes where the competition is heldis a the center of all focuses, with the 8 olympic classes still fighting for the ranking podium.
This Wednesday, for this second day of regattas of the Semaine Olympique Française at La Rochelle, the conditions where met with a wind of 15-18knots, slightly unstable, with the same steady swells as yesterday. The set of the 8 Olympic classes where able to through themselves on their designate sailing areas where the races where played at a lightning speed, stepping up a notch the intensity between the competitors.

First day of competition at the Semaine Olympique Française in La Rochelle, France
This first day of the Semaine Olympique Française started off to a flying start in La Rochelle, with strong wind and sea conditions. Indeed, its facing a beefed up weather that the competitors raced today with more than a twenty knots South West wind, with gusts of 35 knots and strong swells. This morming, 10 :30 marked the first races of the competition, but all of the regattas scheduled for the day couldn’t be initiated due to the hard sailing conditions. Therefore, only the RS :X Men, Laser, Laser Radial, and Finn were able to compete today.
Starting in a week, the Longtze World Event confirmed 15 crews attending the competition. The event will take place in La Rochelle in the same time as the Semaine Olympique Francaise and the registration is still open.
The Organizing Committee has decided to cancel the events in 470 Women and Men, as the class World Championship will take place the same time. Paralymp Sonar and Skud classes are also cancelled.
Good news ! The entry fees will not change until 30 September, when we will close the entries.
NOR Amendment n°2 now allows young men under 19 to attend the event in RS:X 8.5.
It will be sailing FOR ALL in La Rochelle in the beginning of October: the Longtze World Event joins the Semaine Olympique Française, becoming one competition. The local club Société des Régates Rochelaises has been appointed as the organizer of the competition.
